Hi! I’m Morgan– creator of Dinner on the Couch. I’m a Registered Dietitian and home cook… in general, I LOVE food! I studied nutrition at Penn State where I met my husband, Mark. Our son, Oliver, keeps our life in nonstop motion and is a hilarious storyteller. These guys definitely share my love of cuisine, as our favorite night of the week is homemade pizza night!
It’s my mission to help people develop a great relationship with food. In my experience as an RD, I’ve seen too many people feel badly about their body and self-image as a result of diet culture– and end up resenting food and cooking. It’s not the way it should be!
You deserve to love what you eat and have FUN making it. My goal is to show you how through this blog.
Why “Dinner on the Couch”?
When Mark and I were newly married, we worked late hours and ate most of our meals sitting on the couch in our small apartment. By the time we ate, it was often 9PM or later. We have such fond memories of talking about our days together, standing in the kitchen cooking, and relaxing on our old hand-me-down couch. (We still have the same coffee table we did then, by the way.)
I started documenting our couch dinners and as we tried new recipes and techniques. The tag #dinneronthecouch was born and I’ve been using it ever since!
Today, we eat most of our meals at the kitchen table with our son and not the actual couch– however, take “dinner on the couch” to mean a meal that can be as simple or complex as you choose, cozy enough to enjoy on your lap, and eaten comfortably with people you love. Don’t forget the napkins!
